NOPD Investigating Homicide in Third District

NOPD Investigating Homicide in Third District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred during the early morning hours today (January 27, 2024) in the 2000 block of Lafreniere Street that left an adult male dead.

At about 2:00 a.m., NOPD Third District officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 3400 block of Saint Anthony Street. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive adult male victim inside of a pickup truck and having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was declared deceased on scene.

Through further investigation, the location of occurrence for the incident was determined to be the 2000 block of Lafreniere Street.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
