NOPD Investigating Homicide in Sixth District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred on the evening of January 6, 2024, at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and South Liberty Street and left a adult male dead.

At about 10:22 p.m., NOPD Sixth District officers responded to a call of a shot person at the location. Upon arrival, officers located the victim and found he had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital, where he was subsequently declared deceased.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
