NOPD Investigating Homicide in Second District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred last night (January 13, 2024) in the 2500 block of Soniat Street that left an adult female dead.

At about 11:07 p.m., NOPD Second District officers responded to a call of a shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers located two victims, an adult male suffering from two gunshot wounds to the leg and an adult female suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The victims were transported via EMS to a local hospital, where the female victim was subsequently declared deceased.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
