The NOPD is investigating a fatal vehicle crash that occurred on the evening of January 7, 2024, at the intersection of Hayne and Crowder boulevards and left an occupant of one of the two involved vehicles dead.
At about 8:47 p.m., NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a traffic crash at the location. Through further investigation, it was determined that the driver of a vehicle was driving westbound on Hayne Boulevard and attempted to make a left turn onto Crowder Boulevard when his vehicle was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound on Hayne Boulevard. All occupants of the two vehicles were transported via EMS to a local hospital, where one of the victims – an adult male – was pronounced deceased a short time later.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the deceased victim and determine official cause of death, pending autopsy and notification of family.
