NOPD Arrests Suspects in Eighth District Shooting Investigation

NOPD Arrests Suspects in Eighth District Shooting Investigation

The NOPD has arrested Brycesion Jones (black male, DOB: 01-06-2003), a 17-year-old juvenile black male and a 16-year-old juvenile black male in the investigation of a shooting that occurred on January 17, 2024, at the intersection of Carondelet and Common Streets and left two people injured.

At about 3:47 p.m. on January 17, NOPD Eighth District officers responded to a shooting at the intersection of Carondelet and Common streets. In this incident, a male and female both sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

As the investigation progressed, detectives were able to positively identify Jones and the two juvenile males as the perpetrators in this incident and to obtain arrest warrants. A short time later, detectives located the three suspects at a residence in the Seventh District. NOPD Violent Crime Abatement and Investigative Team and NOPD Special Operations Division officers apprehended and arrested the three suspects on scene.

The suspects were each booked on the following charges: two counts of attempted second-degree murder, two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, one count of aggravated arson, one count of obstruction of justice, one count of illegal use of weapons and one count of illegal possession of a machine gun.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
