NOPD Arrests Suspect in Second District Homicide Investigation

On January 15, 2024, the NOPD arrested Ken Scott (Black male, DOB: 07/16/1995) in the investigation of a homicide that occurred on January 13, 2024, in the 2500 block of Soniat Street.

At about 11:07 p.m., NOPD Second District officers responded to a call of a shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers located two victims. Scott was found suffering from gunshot wounds to the leg, and an adult female was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The victims were transported via EMS to a local hospital, where the female victim was subsequently declared deceased.

Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Section detectives developed and positively identified Scott as the perpetrator in this incident. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Scott on one count of Negligent Homicide and one count of Illegal Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. Scott was located on January 15, placed under arrest, and booked accordingly into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
