NOPD Arrests Suspect in Homicide Investigation

On January 25, 2024, the NOPD arrested Bryceson Jones (black male, DOB: 01-06-2003) in the investigation of a homicide that occurred on January 14, 2024, at the intersection of Chef Menteur Highway and Downman Road.

At about 4:10 p.m. on January 14, NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a call of a shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers located three gunshot wound victims – one female and two males – who were each transported via EMS to a local hospital. The gunfire was reported to have come from a subject inside of an unknown SUV, which fled the scene.

On January 15, one of the male victims was pronounced deceased at the hospital. At that time, the incident was reclassified as a homicide.

On January 17, the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office identified the deceased victim in this incident as 18-year-old Seth Chedville and determined preliminary cause of death to be from gunshot wound injuries.

Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Section detectives developed and positively identified Jones as the perpetrator in this incident. Detectives then obtained an arrest warrant for Jones for one count of second-degree murder and two counts of attempted second-degree murder.

Jones is currently incarcerated in the Orleans Parish Justice Center on unrelated charges. He will be re-booked on the aforementioned charges in this investigation.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Anyone with additional information that can assist in this investigation is urged to contact NOPD Homicide Section detectives at 504-658-5300.
