NOPD Announces Violent Crime Arrests, Clearances Between January 1-8

Listed below are arrests or clearances by warrant obtained between January 1-8, 2022 in violent crime investigations by the NOPD:

Homicide

  • On January 2, NOPD Violent Offender Warrant Squad, the U.S. Marshals and NOPD Child Abuse Unit detectives arrested Corey R. Davis (pictured, black male, DOB: 03-25-1994) for first-degree attempted murder, second-degree cruelty to a juvenile, domestic abuse aggravated assault, aggravated criminal damage to property, felon in possession of a firearm, illegal use of a weapon and theft of a motor vehicle. The incident occurred on January 1, 2022, at the intersection of Decatur and Spain streets.
  • On January 5, NOPD Violent Offender Warrant Squad officers arrested Robert Dickens Sr. (pictured, black male, DOB: 08-15-1941) on one count of second-degree murder, and arrested Alvion Dickens (not pictured, black female, DOB: 06-08-2001) on one count of accessory after the fact to second-degree murder. The incident occurred on December 13, 2021 in the 1900 block of Dante Street.
  • On January 6, the NOPD obtained an arrest warrant for John Duncan (pictured, black male, DOB: 07-13-1989) on one count of second-degree murder. The incident occurred on December 17, 2021 at the intersection of North Broad and Dumaine streets.
  • On January 7, the NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad and the U.S. Marshals arrested Mervin Bailey (pictured, black male, DOB: 08-14-2002) on one count of second-degree murder. The incident occurred on December 13, 2021 at the intersection of North Derbigny and Laffite streets.

Shooting

  • On January 7, the NOPD arrested a 16-year-old juvenile male (not pictured), a 17-year-old juvenile male (not pictured), 13-year-old juvenile female (not pictured) and a 16-year-old juvenile female (not pictured) for second-degree aggravated battery by shooting. The incident occurred on January 6 in the 2400 block of Jena Street. Three firearms were recovered at the time of arrest.

Armed Robbery /Carjacking

  • On January 2, Louisiana State Police arrested William Nelson (pictured, black male, DOB: 05-30-2001) for armed robbery and armed robbery with use of a firearm. The incident occurred on January 2 at the intersection of Carondelet Street and Howard Avenue.
  • On January 3, NOPD Sixth District officers arrested Bernard Brown (pictured, black male, DOB: 11-27-1998) for armed robbery and flight from an officer. The incident occurred on January 3 in the 2300 block of Dryades Street.
  • On January 5, NODP First District officers arrested Jequan Singleton (pictured, black male, DOB: 12-29-201) and a 15-year-old juvenile black male (not picture) for armed robbery. The incident occurred on January 4 in the 3700 block of Conti Street. In addition to the aforementioned incident, Singleton was found to be the perpetrator of an armed carjacking on January 4 in the 6100 block of Tullis Drive. He was subsequently arrested for armed robbery in connection with this incident.
  • On January 4, A joint investigation by the NOPD’s Second District, Third District, First District, the Violent Crimes Abatement Investigation Team (VCAIT) and Louisiana State Police led to the arrests of Reese Williams (pictured, black male, DOB: 01-25-2003) and Kyren Phillps (pictured, black male, DOB: 07-21-2003) for armed robbery. The incident occurred on January 2 in the 8000 block of Nelson Street. Six firearms were recovered at the time of arrest.
