The NOPD is investigating a double homicide and shooting that occurred on Monday (Jan. 18) in the 3000 block of Bienville Avenue.

At around 5:26 p.m., First District officers were dispatched to the scene of an aggravated battery by shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male and an adult female suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The male victim was pronounced dead on scene by EMS. The adult female was transported to the hospital by EMS, where she died. A third adult male arrived at the hospital via private conveyance after sustaining a gunshot wound during this incident.

Investigators are in the process of gathering information that will help them identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No further information is currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine the official cause of death and release the victims’ names, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
