NOPD Investigating Homicide in Third District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred today (January 3, 2020) in the 4800 block of Prentiss Avenue that claimed the life of two victims.

At about 7:30 a.m., NOPD Third District officers responded to a call of a vehicle crash with injury at the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered a crashed maroon SUV with two unresponsive male victims inside. The victims were declared dead at the scene.

Detectives learned that a nearby resident reportedly heard the sounds of a vehicle crash at about 12:30 a.m. However, no report was made to the NOPD at that time.

Based on evidence discovered at the scene, the signal for the incident was changed to a homicide and NOPD Homicide Unit detectives assumed command of the investigation.

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victims' name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
