NOPD Investigating Homicide in Third District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred yesterday (January 23, 2020) in the 4100 block of South Carrollton Avenue.

At about 11:40 p.m., NOPD Third District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers learned that a female victim had sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and was transported to an area hospital via private conveyance for treatment.

The victim later expired at the hospital, at which time the NOPD Homicide Unit assumed command of the investigation.

No further details are available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and release cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
