Suspect Wanted by NOPD for Illegally Possessing Firearm

The NOPD has obtained an arrest warrant for Gabriel Bell (DOB: 10-21-1987) for allegedly being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

On December 26, 2017, First District officers responded to the 2600 block of Dumaine Street for a call of suspicious persons in the area possibly selling narcotics. Officers arrived on scene and observed a subject later identified as Bell walking from the area. Investigation showed a blue Chrysler 300 parked in the area that had been referred to officers as being related the reported drug distribution. Inside of the vehicle in plain view, officers observed the handle of a black firearm with an extended magazine loaded into the weapon.  Upon execution of a search warrant on the vehicle, officers also discovered additional gun ammunition and various denominations of cash.

The vehicle was found to be registered to Bell, who is a convicted felon. The anonymous caller who reported the incident had stated that a subject matching the description of Bell had exited the vehicle during the incident.

When located, Bell will be arrested on a charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
