NOPD Seventh District Officers Arrest Suspects in Armed Robbery, Aggravated Battery Incidents

Officers in the NOPD’s Seventh District recently arrested Renard Pickett (DOB: 04-24-1979) and Tyeshia Robertson (DOB: 07-02-1987) in two respective incidents on December 31, 2017.

At about 11:25 a.m., Seventh District officers responded to an armed robbery call at a business in the 8400 block of Chef Menteur Highway. Upon arrival and investigation, it was discovered that a male subject had stolen items from the business and cut an employee with an edged weapon before fleeing the scene on foot. The responding officers observed the subject at the intersection of Chef Menteur Highway and Dodt Street and pursued him into an abandoned residence in the 4400 block of Laine Avenue. The subject – later identified as Pickett – was apprehended without incident, with assistance from Seventh District detectives and Canine Units. Pickett was arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for armed robbery, aggravated battery and resisting an officer. Detectives also believe Pickett to be a suspect in additional shopliftings and burglaries in the Seventh District. Investigation remains ongoing into these incidents.

At about 4:24 p.m., Seventh District officers responded to an aggravated battery by cutting call in the 4800 block of Marseilles Street. Responding officers met with the victim, who was bleeding from several lacerations on her hands and arms. The victim received treatment from EMS while officers canvassed the area for the perpetrator, who was located near the scene. The victim positively identified the perpetrator as Robertson, and officers placed Robertson under arrest. She was transported to an area hospital for treatment and, after being released from the hospital, was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on a charge of aggravated battery by cutting.

Anyone with information on either of these incidents is asked to contact Seventh District detectives at 504-658-6070. Citizens with information that can help solve crimes are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
