NOPD Arrests Suspect in Homicide on Louisa Drive

On January 8, 2018, members of the NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad arrested Jermaine Toussaint (DOB: 12-28-1993) in connection with the murder of Anthony Kelly in an incident that occurred on March 23, 2017 in the 5000 block of Louisa Drive.

At about 1:21 p.m., Third District officers responded to a call of a shooting in the area. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unknown black male later identified as Kelly lying on the ground with visible gunshot wounds to the body. Kelly was transported to an area hospital, where he later died.

As investigation into the incident progressed, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives were able to positively identify Toussaint as the perpetrator and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

Toussaint was located in the 7800 block of Chef Menteur Highway, where he was arrested. Toussaint was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on a charge of second degree murder.

Anyone with additional information on this incident is asked to contact NOPD Homicide Detective Nicholas Williams at 504-658-5300.
