NOPD Arrests Suspect in Aggravated Assault Incident in Eighth District

NOPD officers arrested James Whitaker (DOB: 02-07-1979) on Monday, (Jan. 8) for his involvement in an aggravated assault incident.

At about 1:15 a.m. Eighth District officers responded to an aggravated assault at a business located in the 700 block of Bourbon Street. Upon arrival, officers learned that the suspect was ejected from the bar and returned to the location with a silver handgun in his waistband.

Officers apprehended the subject at the location and confiscated a silver Smith and Wesson with 12 rounds of ammunition. The suspect was charged with aggravated assault, illegal carrying of a concealed weapon and disturbing the peace. He was transported to Central Lockup and booked accordingly.
