NOPD Investigating Homicide in First District

UPDATED: The female victim in this incident succumbed to her injuries while at the hospital. Investigation into this incident remains active and ongoing.

 

ORIGINAL: The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred in the early hours today (February 8, 2020) in the 600 block of South Pierce Street.

At about 12:25 a.m., NOPD First District officers responded to a call of shots fired in the block. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male and an adult female having been shot. The male victim was declared dead at the scene, while the female victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive. No further information is available at this time.

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the name(s) of any deceased victims, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
