NOPD Investigating Homicide in Second District

NOPD Investigating Homicide in Second District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred this afternoon (February 9, 2024) in the 3400 block of General Ogden Street that left one person dead.

At about 3:33 p.m., NOPD Second District officers responded to a call of a medical emergency.  Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive adult black male inside a residence having sustained a gunshot wound(s). The victim, who is believed to be 57-years-old, was declared deceased on scene by EMS.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.

No additional details are currently available.

Homicide detective Walter Edmond is in charge of the ongoing investigation.
