NOPD Investigating Homicide in Fifth District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred February 20, 2024 in the 1800 block of Lizardi Street.

At about 3:18 p.m., NOPD Fifth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive adult black male on the sidewalk suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was transported to a local hospital by EMS where he was pronounced deceased.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.

Detective Tianay Marshall is the lead investigator in this case. No additional details are currently available.
