The NOPD is investigating a fatal vehicle crash that occurred this evening (February 22, 2023) on the eastbound on-ramp to Interstate 10 near the Howard Avenue exit and left one person dead.
At about 8:37 p.m., NOPD Third District officers were notified of a vehicle crash with injury having occurred on the eastbound on-ramp. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive adult male subject lying in the roadway. The victim was declared deceased on scene.
Through further investigation, it was determined that the victim was attempting to cross the on-ramp when he was struck by a white Kia Optima heading eastbound.
The adult male driver of the Kia remained on scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
The Orleans Parish Coroner will officially identify the victim in this incident upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
