The NOPD is investigating a fatal vehicle crash that occurred today (February 22, 2023) at the intersection of North Claiborne Avenue and Iberville Street and left one person dead.
At about 4:33 p.m., NOPD First District officers responded to a call of a vehicle crash at the location. Upon arrival and investigation, officers determined that an Infiniti sedan was traveling westbound on North Claiborne Avenue when an adult female operating a motor scooter northbound on Iberville Street entered the intersection and struck the sedan, ejecting the victim from the scooter. The scooter operator was transported via EMS to a local hospital, where she was declared deceased.
The adult male driver of the Infiniti remained on scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
The Orleans Parish Coroner will officially identify the victim in this incident upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
