NOPD Arrests Suspect on Drug Charges on Bourbon Street
The NOPD has arrested Melveion Jones (DOB: 03-20-1997) for drug possession charges in connection with an incident that occurred on January 27, 2019 in the 500 block of Bourbon Street.
At about 2:30 a.m., NOPD Eighth District Bourbon Promenade Unit officers were on patrol in the 5000 block of Bourbon Street when they arrested Jones in regards to a battery incident. During a search of Jones’ person, officers discovered seven individual plastic bags containing marijuana and two individual plastic bags containing a total of 12 amphetamine tablets. The subject was also in possession of $202 in various U.S. currency.
Jones was transported to the Orleans Justice Center and booked with simple battery, illegal possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and illegal possession of amphetamines with intent to distribute.
