NOPD Arrests Suspect in Homicide on Burgundy Street

The NOPD has arrested Morgan Rothe-Skinner (DOB: 12-30-1992) in connection with a homicide that occurred on February 6, 2019 in the 600 block of Burgundy Street.

At about 6:45 p.m., NOPD Eighth District officers responded to a call of a possible hostage situation at a residence in the block. Upon arrival, officers encountered the reporting person outside of the residence, who stated that an adult male relative was possibly barricaded inside the residence. The male subject, later identified as Rothe-Skinner, surrendered to officers and was taken into custody.

Based on information provided to police at the scene by Rothe-Skinner, officers conducted a cursory search of the scene and observed an unresponsive male subject. The subject was declared deceased at the scene, at which time the incident was reclassified as a homicide.

As the investigation progressed, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives arrested Rothe-Skinner on February 7 on a charge of second degree murder. He was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center accordingly.

Anyone with additional details on this incident is asked to contact NOPD Homicide Unit Detective Stephanie Gray at 504-658-5300.
