Suspect Arrested for Business Burglary and Looting on Chef Menteur Highway

On February 7, 2017, NOPD Seventh District officers and Housing Authority of New Orleans officers arrested Wayne Horn (DOB: 07-23-1987) for allegedly burglarizing and looting a business in the 8000 block of Chef Highway.

At about 5:50 p.m., officers were patrolling the area that sustained damage from an earlier natural disaster (tornado) when they were flagged down by a concerned citizen, who informed them about an unknown person inside of a business. A subsequent perimeter search of the location resulted in the apprehension of the individual, later identified as Horn, who was found to have in his possession a bag that consisted of numerous tools commonly used in commission of a burglary. A review of the business found that the safe of the business had been defeated, while a search of Horn found him in possession of a large amount of cash as well as a firearm, which is in violation of Horn’s parole stipulations.

Horn was booked into Central Lockup on charges of unauthorized entry of a business, looting, felon in possession of a firearm and simple criminal damage to property.

Anyone with further information regarding this incident is asked to contact Seventh District detectives at 504-658-6070.

Citizens with information that can help solve crimes are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
