NOPD Arrests Suspect in Burglary During Pro-Active Patrol

The NOPD has arrested an alleged serial business burglar after a pro-active patrol in the Third District.

In an effort to combat business burglaries, Third District detectives were patrolling in the early morning hours of December 20, 2023 when a call for a burglary in progress with an armed subject was issued.

Officers, with the help of Orleans Levee District Police, quickly set up a perimeter around the business in the 3400 block of Paris Avenue.

Detectives discovered the business had recently been broken into and money was missing from the cash register.

A hole in the ceiling, led officers to the roof where they discovered the suspect hiding.  He quickly jumped down and ran. However, detectives maintaining the perimeter were able to catch the suspect  hiding under a house in the 1600 block of Pleasure Street.

The perpetrator was identified as Lamar Briscoe (Black male, DOB: 01-06-1994).  Investigators say he has allegedly committed several burglaries by entering businesses through the roof.

Briscoe has been charged with simple burglary of a business.

Anyone with additional information about Briscoe or incident is asked to contact Third District detectives at (504) 658-6030 or Crimestoppers anonymously at (504) 822-1111.

All persons are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty.
