NOPD Investigating Homicide in Third District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred this evening (December 21, 2022) at the intersection of South Carrollton and Tulane avenues that left one person dead.

At about 8:01 p.m., NOPD Third District officers responded to the location and discovered an adult male gunshot wound victim inside of a vehicle at the location. The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital where, approximately two hours later, he was declared deceased. At that time, the incident was reclassified as a homicide.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
