The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred today (December 31, 2021) in the 7900 block of Oleander Street that left one person dead.
At about 2:21 p.m., NOPD Second District detectives responded to a report of an aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon arrival, they discovered an adult male victim with a gunshot wound to the back. The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital, where he was later declared deceased.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are available at this time.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
