The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred today (December 5, 2021) at the intersection of Carondelet and Lafayette streets.
At about 12:03 a.m., NOPD Eighth District officers responded to an aggravated battery by shooting call at the location. Upon arrival, they discovered an adult victim with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was declared deceased.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are available at this time.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
