NOPD Investigating Homicide in Fourth District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred this evening (December 19, 2020) at the intersection of General DeGaulle drive and L.B. Landry Drive.

At about 7:44 p.m., a NOPD Fourth District officer patrolling the area reported hearing possible gunshots. Upon investigation, he found a sedan had run off the road heading east on General DeGaulle Drive. The driver of the vehicle, described an adult female, was found unresponsive and having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The female victim was declared deceased at the scene.

A male victim at the scene was found to have been the passenger of the vehicle. The victim was not injured.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are available at this time.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
