NOPD Investigates Homicide, Shooting in Fifth District

The NOPD is investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the life of one male victim and injured another Monday night (Dec. 28) in the Fifth District.

At around 10:35 p.m., Fifth District officers were advised that two adult males arrived at a local hospital via private conveyance after sustaining gunshot wounds near the intersection of Florida and Saint Maurice avenues. One of the victims died at the hospital.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive.

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine the official cause of death and release the victim's name upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
