NOPD Arrests Suspects in Eighth District Shooting

The NOPD has arrested two suspects in the ongoing investigation of a shooting in the 1500 block of Canal Street during the early hours today (December 28, 2020).

At about 12:16 a.m., NOPD Eighth District officers responded to the location for a reported shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim inside of a residence with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Through investigation, Eighth District detectives learned that approximately six unknown male suspects allegedly forced their way into a residence and fired multiple gunshots toward the victim, as well as a second victim who was not injured. The suspects then fled the scene while reportedly continuing to discharge their firearms in the hallway. The injured victim was transported to a local hospital via EMS.

As the investigation progressed, detectives positively learned that two subjects – later identified as Chris Ross (male, DOB: 08-17-2000, photo not available) of Slidell, LA and Tiquan Everson (male, DOB; 12-01-1995, pictured at right) of Avondale, LA – had arrived at a local hospital with gunshot wounds. Through investigation, detectives positively identified the subjects as two of the suspects being involved in this incident. Ross and Everson were located and arrested on one count each of attempted second degree murder.

In addition to the arrests, NOPD officers also confiscated three rifles and a yet-to-be determined amount of illegal narcotics in this investigation.

This investigation remains active and ongoing. No additional details are currently available.
