Suspect Arrested in Second District Bomb Threat

The NOPD has arrested Joseph Lee (pictured, DOB: 01-26-1961) in the investigation of a bomb threat that occurred on December 4, 2019.

Through investigation, NOPD Second District detectives determined that at about 4:00 a.m., Lee allegedly called a hospital in the Second District from his cell phone. During the call, Lee allegedly began using profane language and threated to “blow up” the hospital.

Lee’s cell phone was traced to the 5600 block of Read Boulevard, in the Seventh District. Second District detectives and officers traveled to the location and, upon finding Lee there, apprehended and arrested him.

No explosive devices were located at the hospital and no one was injured.

Lee was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for communicating false arson information and terrorizing.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact NOPD Second District detectives at 504-658-6020.
