UPDATE: NOPD Arrests Suspect in Homicide by Cutting in Eighth District

UPDATE: The NOPD has arrested Quinten Passantino (DOB: 02-13-1988) in the investigation of a homicide by cutting that occurred this morning (December 29, 2018) in the 900 block of St. Ann Street. Passentino was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for second degree murder.

Investigation into this incident remains active and ongoing. No further details are available at this time.

 

ORIGINAL RELEASE: The NOPD is investigating a homicide by cutting that occurred this morning (December 29, 2018) at the intersection of Dauphine and St. Ann streets.

At about 4:10 a.m., NOPD Eighth District officers and Louisiana State Police responded to a call of an aggravated battery by cutting at the location. Upon arrival, they located an adult while male lying on the sidewalk suffering from multiple stab wounds. New Orleans EMS responded and transported the victim to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. At that time, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives assumed command of the investigation.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive. No further information is available at this time.

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
