NOPD Arrests Suspect in Armed Robbery on Chef Menteur Highway

On December 19, 2017, the NOPD arrested D’vaun Falls (DOB: 08-05-1995) in connection with an armed robbery incident that occurred on November 30, 2017 in the 13100 block of Chef Menteur Highway.

The victim told police that after the store was closed and the alarm set, she exited the store and approached her vehicle. At this time, she said, a subject emerged from the bushes near her vehicle and began running toward her while brandishing a black handgun. The victim said she turned and began to run, but was knocked to the ground form behind when the subject reportedly struck her with an unknown object. After she fell, the victim’s store keys fell from her hand. The subject then allegedly took the victim’s keys, pointed the gun at her and unsuccessfully attempted to enter the victim’s vehicle. The suspect then reportedly fled on foot onto Bullard Avenue. The victim described the suspect to police as a black male who she recognized as a frequent customer at the store.

While conducting a suspicious person stop on December 19 at the same location, Seventh District officers detained an individual later identified as Falls, who the victim positively identified as the perpetrator in the armed robbery incident.

Falls was arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for one count each of armed robbery with simple battery.

Anyone with additional information in this incident is asked to contact Seventh District detectives at 504-65-6070. Citizens with information that can help solve crimes are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
