NOPD Arrests Man for Illegally Carrying a Weapon in the Eighth District

The NOPD arrested a man for illegally carrying a weapon in the Eighth District.

 

On December 5, 2017 around 2:20 a.m. NOPD officer Louis Labat was on foot patrol in the 300 block of Bourbon Street when he observed a subject (later identified as Spencer Davis DOB: 2-21-86) with a handgun tucked in the waistband of his pants.

 

The subject fled on foot toward Beinville Street, north on Bienville Street toward Dauphine Street.

 

The subject continued to flee toward Canal Street with Officer Labat in pursuit on Dauphine and then toward Burgundy Street via Iberville Street where he was ultimately apprehended with the assistance of responding Louisiana State Police, French Quarter Task Force Officers, and Downtown Development District Units.

 

Davis was searched by Louisiana State Police who located a loaded .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol in his pants leg.

 

Davis also had approximately eight grams of marijuana in his possession.

 

Davis was charged with illegal carrying of weapons, illegal possession of a Schedule I controlled dangerous substance.
