Fifth District officers quickly arrested a 16-year-old male on Friday (Dec. 9) after he robbed a victim with a handgun.
The victim told police shortly after 5 p.m. he parked his truck in the 4000 block of North Rampart Street. The victim then told police the teen approached him and asked him if he had change for a five dollar bill. Once the victim told the teen that he did not have change, the suspect pulled out a gun and demanded his belongings. The victim then gave the teen his wallet and the suspect was seen fleeing on North Rampart Street.
At around 5:35 p.m., officers spotted the suspect who fit the description in the 4500 block of block of Urquhart Street. When the officers went to approach the suspect, he began to run and was seen jumping over a fence. Officers set up perimeter around the area, and the teen eventually surrendered once he received a verbal warning about a Canine dog also searching the area. Officers also confiscated the teen's gun and magazine.
The suspect was arrested and brought to CLU to be booked on multiple charges.
