Second Suspect in Bourbon Street Shooting Arrested

NOPD detectives, with the assistance of Louisiana State Police (LSP), have identified and arrested Travon Manuel (DOB: 8-31-96) as the second suspect in the Bourbon Street shooting that happened earlier this week. Acting on information gathered in the investigation, LSP located Manuel at a home in the Lafayette area where he was detained without incident. Manuel will be extradited to New Orleans to face charges of second degree murder and nine counts of attempted murder. No photo of Manuel is immediately available.

The arrest comes just hours after Chief Michael Harrison, Mayor Mitch Landrieu and state and federal law enforcement officials announced the arrest of Jordan Clay as the other suspect in the incident. Investigation into the shooting is on-going.

Police made both arrests less than one week after the incident took place. Chief Harrison credits the quick arrests to the hard work of all law enforcement agencies involved with the investigation.

“We made a promise to track down the suspects responsible and bring them to justice, and together, we made good on that promise," said Chief Harrison. "I want to thank the Louisiana State Police, FBI, ATF and Lafayette Police Department for providing the resources we needed to get the job done. There is a lot of work left to do and we will work diligently to build a strong case for the District Attorney's Office to ensure justice is served."

LSP Superintendent Col. Mike Edmonson said the results are an example of the strong partnership in place among law enforcement in New Orleans across the state.

"As a law enforcement community, we work tirelessly to bring some sense of closure for the victims of crimes and their families," he said. "I hope this investigation indicates to the public that law enforcement partnerships are working in the city of New Orleans. It should also be a clear indication to the criminal element that their actions have consequences.  Finally, I want to thank the State Police detectives in the Lafayette area who refused to stand down until these two individuals were in custody."

Anyone who has any information about either suspect or the incident is urged to call the NOPD Homicide Division at 504-658-5300 or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
