NOPD Arrests Suspect in Homicide on Forest Glen Road

On Thursday, December 22, 2016, members of the NOPD’s Violent Offenders Warrant Squad arrested Kyron Theophile (DOB: 12-03-1985) in connection with a homicide that occurred on Dec. 2 in the 7500 block of Forest Glen Road.

Just before 4 a.m. on Dec. 2, Seventh District officers responded to an aggravated battery by shooting near the intersection of Forest Glen Road and Castlewood Drive. When officers arrived, they observed a male victim, later identified as Gerard Avant (DOB: 11-21-1965), lying on the front porch of a residence suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the body. Avant died on the scene from his injuries.

As investigation proceeded, NOPD Homicide detectives were able to develop Theophile as a suspect in this incident. Theophile was arrested at his residence and booked into Central Lockup on a charge of second-degree murder.
