Fifth District Partners with Local Church to Distribute Toys on Christmas Day

The NOPD's Fifth District is partnering with First Pilgrim Baptist church to collect toys that will go to children and their families in the Fifth District on Christmas Day.

The Fifth District is asking the community to help make a child’s holiday season special by donating new, unwrapped toy that will be distributed to families who can’t afford toys and children who otherwise wouldn’t receive holiday gifts this year.

On Christmas Day, officers will deliver those toys around noon to the church located on 1228 Arts Street. Officers will then help pass out the toys to the kids at the church’s cafeteria around 1 p.m. while supplies last.

Drop off unwrapped new gifts or toys anytime from December 14 to December 24, 2016, at the NOPD Fifth District station located at 3900 North Claiborne Avenue. If you aren’t able to drop-off a toy in person, please call 658-6050 and ask if any Fifth District officer can pick up the toys from your home or business.

For more information about the NOPD Fifth District’s Toy Drive, please contact the Public Affairs Office at 504-658-5858.
