The NOPD is investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred sometime overnight on August 2, 2023 on Interstate 10.
At about 6:05 a.m., NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a call of a vehicle crash between the Bullard and Read Boulevard exits west-bound.
Upon further investigation, it was determined that a unknown adult female in a Nissan Sentra was traveling in the west-bound lanes of I-10 when, for unknown reasons, her vehicle struck the cable guardrail. The vehicle continued into the grassy area alongside the interstate and flipped over, ejecting The victim.
EMS pronounced the driver deceased on scene.
The Orleans Parish Coroner will officially identify the victim in this incident upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
Traffic Fatality Unit investigator Danny Ellis is in charge of the investigation.
