NOPD Arrests Suspect in Homicide Investigation

The NOPD has arrested Adam Belanouane (male, DOB: 11-06-1998) in the investigation of a homicide that occurred on August 3, 2023, in the 5900 block of Burgundy Street.

At about 7:10 a.m. on August 3 NOPD Fifth District officers responded to an initial call of a shot person at the location. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male having sustained physical trauma. The victim was declared deceased on scene and the incident was classified as a homicide. A subject located in the nearby area was detained for questioning.

Upon further investigation, detectives positively identified the subject – identified as Belanouane – as the perpetrator in this incident. Belanouane was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on one count of second-degree murder.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
