The NOPD has arrested a 14-year-old juvenile male in the investigation of a homicide that occurred on August 6, 2023, in the 7700 block of Shubert Street and left a 13-year-old juvenile male dead.

According to investigators, Seventh District officers responded to a call of a shooting and upon their arrival, officers located the victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his body. Emergency Medical Technicians pronounced the victim deceased on scene.

Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Section detectives developed and positively identified the juvenile male as the perpetrator in this incident. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect on charges of negligent homicide, obstruction of justice and Illegal use of weapons.

The suspect surrendered to police on the evening of August 8, 2023, and was booked accordingly into the Juvenile Justice Intervention Center.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
