The NOPD is investigating a fatal vehicle crash that occurred this evening (August 4, 2021) at the intersection of Chef Menteur Highway and Stemway Drive.
At about 9:14 p.m., NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a call of a vehicle crash at the location. Upon arrival and investigation, detectives determined that a Kawasaki motorized dirt bike and a Porsche Cayenne SUV collided in the intersection as the SUV attempted to make a left turn onto Stemway Drive, with the dirt bike striking the SUV's passenger side.
The operator of the dirt bike was ejected in the crash and was declared deceased at the scene. A female passenger in the SUV was transported via EMS to a local hospital for treatment of injuries. The driver of the SUV remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
The Orleans Parish Coroner will officially identify the victim in this incident upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
