NOPD Investigating Homicide in Eighth District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred this evening (August 25, 2021) at the intersection of Julia Street and Loyola Avenue that left one person dead and two injured.

At about 6:27 p.m., NOPD Eighth District officers responded to a call of shots fired at the location. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male subject lying on the sidewalk and having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was declared deceased at the scene.

A second adult male victim in this incident was found in the nearby area having sustained a gunshot wound to the leg. The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital for treatment.

A third victim in this incident, also identified as an adult male, sustained non-gunfire related abrasions and was transported via EMS to a local hospital for treatment.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are available at this time.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the deceased victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
