NOPD Arrests Suspect in Homicide Investigation

The NOPD has arrested Sharod J. Williams (pictured, black male, DOB: 05-01-1985) in the investigation of a homicide on June 16, 2021 in the 1300 block of France Street.

At about 7:22 p.m., NOPD Fifth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male subject lying in the roadway and having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was declared deceased at the scene, at which time the incident was reclassified as a homicide. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office later identified the victim as 45-year-old Terrance Johnson.

Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives developed and positively identified Williams as the perpetrator in this incident and obtained a warrant for Williams’ arrest on a charge of second-degree murder.

Williams is currently incarcerated in the Orleans Parish Justice Center on multiple charges after his arrest on June 23 in a separate homicide incident that occurred on April 30 in the 100 block of Verret Street. He was rebooked accordingly on August 9 in connection with the June 16 incident.

Anyone with additional information on this incident is asked to contact NOPD Homicide Unit Detective Ryan Aucoin at 504-658-5300.
