NOPD Investigating Homicide in First District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide by shooting that took place in the 1700 block of North Rocheblave Street on Thursday, August 1, 2019 and took the life of a 15-year-old juvenile male.

At around 11:07 p.m., NOPD First District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered the juvenile victim lying on the roadway and having sustained multiple apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators are still currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive.

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
