UPDATE: NOPD Arrests Suspect in Aggravated Assault with a Firearm on Pleasure Street

UPDATE: On August 21, 2018, NOPD Violent Offender Warrant Squad members and U.S. Marshals arrested Fenton Smooth (DOB: 09-24-1990) in connection with this incident. He was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for principal to aggravated assault with a firearm, principal to discharging a firearm during a crime of violence and principal to simple criminal damage to property.

ORIGINAL RELEASE: The NOPD has obtained an arrest warrant for Fenton Smooth (DOB: 09-24-1990) in connection with an aggravated assault incident that occurred on August 8, 2018 in the 3300 block of Pleasure Street.

NOPD Fifth District detectives have determined that at about 7:55 a.m., Smooth allegedly handed a female subject a firearm after she was involved in a verbal altercation with the victim. The female subject then reportedly chased behind the victim and fired a single shot at her with the firearm. The victim was able to escape injury by running from the female subject. As a result of the female subject firing the weapon, she caused damage to a residence in the area.

As the investigation progressed, Smooth was positively identified as having a role in the incident. Detectives also discovered that Smooth is currently on parole for charges of felon in possession of a firearm and aggravated assault with a firearm.

When located, Smooth will be arrested for felon in possession of a firearm, principle to aggravated assault with a firearm, principle to discharging of a firearm during a crime of violence and principle to simple criminal damage to property.
