NOPD Arrests Man for Possession of a Stolen Weapon in the Sixth District

An investigation into a drug distribution area in the Sixth District led to the arrest of a Baltimore man for possession of a stolen firearm.

Dimitris Burton (B/M DOB: 6-18-1991) of Baltimore, Maryland was arrested on August 22, 2018 and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.

Sixth District Task Force B officers conducted surveillance on a suspected narcotics distribution area in the 3300 block of Loyola Avenue and identified the suspects and method.

Task Force officers moved in on the location and found Burton in the alley behind 3300 the block of Loyola Avenue near a fence. Burton was also allegedly standing next to a loaded and chambered rifle.

Burton was taken into custody and officers located 35 foils of heroin, more than $2600 in cash, and two walkie-talkie radios. Some of the cash was located in eight bundles of money. The walkie-talkies were reportedly used to communicate with a lookout near the location.

The investigation also revealed the rifle was stolen from a deputy sheriff from East Baton Rouge Parish. Burton was found in possession of ecstasy, tramadol, oxycodone and marijuana.
