The NOPD arrested 71 subjects on drug-related charges in the culmination of “Operation Summer Heat,” a three-month investigation targeting street level drug activity throughout New Orleans.

Over a five day period NOPD arrested 71 drug dealers and has warrants out for an additional 54.

“We know street-level drug dealing is a major concern for our citizens – as it is for this Department,” NOPD Superintendent Michael Harrison said. “That’s why our officers picked strategic locations all across the city that were prone to violence and drug dealing.”

In addition to the round up – the NOPD and the Louisiana State Police worked closely in different parts of the city – and the results speak for themselves.
