Suspect Quickly Arrested after Attempting to Break into Two Businesses

The NOPD Seventh District arrested Kimberly Poree (DOB:10/5/1974) on Thursday (Aug. 31) after he was seen attempting to gain entry into two businesses on Downman Road.

At around 8:39 a.m., Poree was observed by a witness using a shovel to gain entrance into the back doors of two businesses located in the 8000 block of Downman Road. Poree was then seen running on foot toward his vehicle. However, he was quickly apprehended by officer Kevin Nguyen.

Through the course of the investigation, officers discovered a knife longer than three inches inside the subject’s waistline. Poree was arrested and booked with two counts of attempted simple burglary of a business and illegal carrying of a weapon.
