NOPD is investigating the homicide of a 61-year-old female in the Fifth District.
Shortly after 2 p.m. today (Aug. 13), homicide detectives were called to a residence in the 1300 block of Reynes Street. Earlier in the day concerned family members sent a male relative to gain entry into the woman’s home to check on her. The relative was able to get into the home through a side window of the house, and he discovered the woman lying in the hallway. She had suffered multiple puncture wounds to her body and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s name and the official cause of death.
